About
Promoting Community-based Action To End Violence Against Women And Girls
The disheartening facts about Gender-based Violence within the Nigerian context means that about 30 million women and girls have experienced or are currently experiencing some form of violence on the basis of gender, as more than 1 in 3 women experience gender-based violence during their lifetime.
The OrangeALOUD! Project led by Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe represents a commitment and a united platform to stand with girls and women across all communities in the FCT to end violence, under the auspices of the UN-led initiatives to mobilize global action against Gender based Violence. Specifically, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence – a campaign which was originated by the first Women's Global Leadership Institute in 1991, coordinated by the Centre for Women's Global Leadership, and supported by both the UN Secretary General’s UNiTE by 2030 to End Violence against Women Initiative and the UN Women’s Orange the World Campaign.
Take a Stand with IRETI seeks to establish a grassroots Advocacy, Awareness and Action driven Campaign (Orange ALOUD!) to identify, engage and activate a wide range of relevant stakeholders to drive community-based solutions that address root causes of Gender-based Violence. The goal of the OrangeALOUD! Campaign is to support communities to define their own solutions, establish sustainable financing for Local GBV Action Plans and respond to GBV with bespoke solutions that consolidate contributions from multiple stakeholders; resulting in deep-reaching benefits for people and community.

Abuja Project backed by the 2RUHOPE Development Initiative in order to mobilize collective action, lead the charge on local and community-driven conversations among generations, and activate responsive solutions for critical ground-breaking results, to deliver a safe and violence-free society for women and girls.
